CLEANING YOUR TURQUOISE JEWELLERY AT HOME

Turquoise jewellery is lovely because of its distinct hue, it’s also easy to see tarnishing silver or dull gold because of the colour contrast, here is a simple easy way to clean turquoise jewellery at home.

The simple home remedy is *drumroll please*- Soap and water!!!

this is very effective for cleaning jewellery like it cleans everything else, it removes dirt and grime accumulate from sweat and body products such as lotions and oils. Adding a little salt to regular dish soap will give you added cleaning power.

When using this method it’s usual for people to use a soft brittle brush as it would help you get into all the nooks and crannies of the jewellery piece but this method is ideal for harder stones and metals, like diamonds and platinum, but should be carefully used for softer metals like silver and gold, as well as stones such as pearls and opals.

You can instead use a soft, lint-free cloth to be on the safe side as t
his is ideal for stones that are porous and soft, such as turquoise or pearls. For softer stones and metals, just remove them from the liquid, rinse and lay them to dry before storing them in a cotton bag.

How to:

Simply combine two cups of warm water and about three drops of gentle laundry detergent or dish soap.

Quickly dip the jewelry into the solution and then use a soft cloth to gently wipe/rub at the dirt or grime and dry your jewelry.

Before storing your jewelry, make sure to allow it to air dry for the day because you want it completely dry first.

I hope this helps and you dig up that piece of jewellery you’ve wanted to wear but couldn’t clean. For other more complex pieces search for a silver/gold smith in your area and have them give your jewellery a new lease on life.

See you soon Tribe
